2025 MOSES LAKE CARP CLASSIC RULES

  • 1. ENTRY FEES
The entry fee will be $30.00 per shooter for the big ten fish. An additional fee of $30 per shooter for most carp quantity shot. Largest carp shot during the tournament will win the Big Fish pot money and trophy. CASH ONLY.
  • 2. GOLDFISH/KOI GOLDEN TICKET SHOOT
Prize will be awarded to the largest in weight Goldfish/Koi. If no Goldfish/Koi is shot, then the prize will be awarded to the second largest carp shot by weight.
  • 3. THE TEAM
A “team” can consist of as many shooters as can be safely on board your boat per state regulations. No Non-shooters on the boat during the shoot hours. Please be sure you have the appropriate number of life vests to accommodate all shooters as well as yourself.
  • 4. WAIVER
Each participant must sign a waiver, thus releasing the shoot’s organizers (members of the WBA and non-member volunteers) and Sponsors from all liability.
  • 5. EQUIPMENT
Only standard bowfishing equipment may be used in the tournament. Use of traditional nets in landing your carp that has been shot with an arrow is permitted. No, gaffs, bait, or any other standard fishing gear allowed in boats during tournament hours. Fish are not to be placed on ICE. BE PREPARED…if you need to go ashore for an emergency you need to call the tournament director before you beach your boat. (Ty Swartout 206-459-2342). Life jackets and a fire extinguisher are REQUIRED onboard each boat.
  • 6. LICENSE
No fishing license is required for bowfishing on Moses Lake.
  • 7. REGISTRATION
All teams must register at Connelly Park between 6:00-6:30am. Boaters’ meeting 6:30-6:45. Blast-off at 7:00am. All teams must complete a registration form and waiver to become registered in the event. Cash only accepted at the event.
  • 8. OFF LIMITS DESIGNATION
Moses Lake is off limits from midnight Sunday, May 11, 2025 thru 7:00am Saturday, May 17, 2025 7:00am.
  • 9. FISHABLE WATERS
Teams are required to launch their boat in and solely fish Moses Lake. Any team that harvests fish from closed waters will be disqualified and not allowed to participate in WBA shoots for a minimum of 5 years. Shooters are not allowed to leave their boat to harvest fish. If you must leave your boat it is only to retrieve bowfishing gear, all bowfishing gear must stay in the boat.
  • 10. CLOSED WATERS
Rocky Ford Creek Fly Fishing Zone and behind the Moses Lake Walmart railroad trestle. Shooting will also not be allowed within the “Safe Zones” for launching and loading boats.
  • 11. SPORTSMANSHIP
Basic unwritten rules of good sportsmanship will be expected during the shoot. Common sense, and respect to other shooters is a must in order to ensure a good time be had by all. Giving way in narrow channels and staying at a respectable distance from other boats can’t always be monitored, so good judgment, common sense, and being respectful to other shooters reflects solely on each of us as sportsmen. A Bass tournament is scheduled for the same weekend, so common courtesy and sportsmanship is expected.
  • 12. ALCOHOL & MARIJUANA
The consumption of alcoholic beverages & marijuana during tournament shoot hours (Sat 7:00 AM-5:00 PM) is prohibited. Violation of the policy may result in a team’s disqualification.
  • 13. WEIGH-IN
The official cut-off time is 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. You must be inside the Connelly Park Marina or parked on the shoreline at this time. Harvest to include carp only (exception: goldfish & Koi allowed as well). The harvest of any game fish is illegal in Washington and will result in immediate disqualification. It is the responsibility of each team to determine their heaviest 10 fish, as well as identify to the weigh-in staff the teams’ heaviest fish for the additional Big fish pot prior to weigh-in. Total weight totals will determine ranking in the tournament. If you are late, you cannot participate in the weigh-in or win any prizes.
  • 14. PAYOUT
All entry fees will be paid out to the top 30% or to 10 if over 30 teams.
  • 15. TIE BREAKER
In the event of a "tie" for total weight, the bigger "fish" of either group will determine the winner.
  • 16. OUR GOAL
Our goal is to dispose of any and all fish that are shot during this tournament. Disposal containers will be located at Connelly Park for the full weekend.
